I was reading a fabulous blog which suggested that a particular woman needed to realize that we aren't in high school anymore.
Oye!
This is a particular pet-peeve/passion of mine.
I think, perhaps I will simply order one of those wooden handled rubber stamps that you can customize. I will have it made to say "grow up!" (in a lovely font, of course) and just go around stamping it on the foreheads of shallow and self involved women.
And, as I stewed this post, I had all sorts of clever things parading through my head. Certain sentiments directed at a few "catty-eternal-high-school-girls" I know, and then a little voice at the bottom of the stairs called up "Mommy, I'm coming up to write a book with you."
And with her, she brought Laurie Berkner.
Do you know how hard it is to write anything that isn't puffy, pastel colored or ooey-gooey sweet when Laurie Berkner's music is consuming every ounce of oxygen around you???
funny genny moment:
on the way home from camp, her and her little friend were talking about how, one night, the girls went over to the boys side and serenaded them. While they were singing You Are My Sunshine, apparently a little boy emerged from his cabin without a shirt. The girls all ran away shrieking, and Gen's friend said she even saw his abs! (yes, she blushed while saying this.)
A few moments later, I guess the male counselors escorted the boys (keep in mind, these are 9 & 10 year olds) over to the secluded girls side to return the serenade.
At this point both Gen and her friend became grave and serious. The friend told Genny to tell us, but genny solemnly told her friend to "go ahead."
The friend quietly said: The boys sang a really inappropriate song!
With tears in her eyes Genny said: it was about sex! (no, we haven't had that conversation yet...) Shocked, I turned around and asked what song, to which both girls quietly worded "I'm bringing Sexy Back..."
LOL!
(I wonder how Laurie feels about that song?)

Love it!!
Those days are just around the corner.
Send me one of those stamps, please?
That is too cute.
I don't even think I could concentrate at all through Laurie...
Ah, high school.
Thankfully, homeschooling high school is probably nothing like high school musical. And I'm glad high school is for the young. And the immature, I guess.
How many times can I type high school in this comment?
I'll take a stamp too, please :)
you should customize it and add it to your store :)
that is TOO funny....bringing sexy back, I bet the girls were very hormonal, especially seeing the boy's abs...LOL!!!!!!!
Laurie Berkner removes my will to live...especially since ALL of her songs are earwigs.
Little Camper Gen is adorable! Remember how she blushed at abs now, for high school is a'coming....shudder.
The funny Genny moment is hilarious!
You buy the stamp and I'll send some women I know that need to grow up!
that's so funny about the girls and the song. I kind of like that song *blush* :)
by the way, it is not too late for you to enter the exposaroonie vintage challenge! The deadline is open all the way until tomorrow night, I think. Just wanted to make sure you didn't miss out. :)
Hee hee!
This reminds me when a friend of mine was out with me when she got a call from her panicked (babysitting) mom who reported that her boys were talking about a friend at school who used "no-no words" like the "S Word" (stupid,) the "C Word" (crap,) and-hang on for this-THE "F WORD" (FART!)
It's all relative sometimes, isn't it?
I'm with the others: stamp please?
Aw, funny! My 17 year old still blushes when he hears the word sexy.
I'm with you on the catty immature behavior of some women who should know better. Seriously annoying.
Love the Genny story, too cute!
FUNNYYYYYY! I love the look of shock and horror on my kids' face when someone else "crosses the line" and they don't know what to do or say!
awww that is so cute.. you're a great mom!!!
and hey.. i need that stamp.. maybe we should make matching ones? and buy pink ink? lol
