Oh the utter craftiness of me...

Remember my pronounced fear of sewing?
And the pep talk you ladies gave?
Well, I've been sewing...
And here's what I'm learning:
the perfectionist in me has to realize that little blips, blunders and imperfections are what make things human, normal, unique and loveable... (and yes, this IS what I'm telling myself, or I would have runaway screaming from this whole deal!)

Take this completed, yet imperfect, first completion...

And these... although, NOT sewn, they are of a slightly crafty nature... And were incredibly awesome looking UNTIL a non-fixable glob of paint landed on the edge of the bottom one. But that's what makes them, right? (RIGHT???? lie to me if you have to...)

And this...
The reason I was awake at 4 a.m.
Quilt stress.
(ok... maybe the actual reason I was awake at 4 a.m. was more migraine/incredible amounts of caffeine injected in to the body in an effort to thwart said-migraine)
Positive- when I focus on it, it goes together way faster than I'd expected! (Which is a good thing, considering I have THREE to make by Christmas.)
Negative- I really, REALLY messed up on a part of it and don't know how to fix it...

Now, other than the pointing out of the largely imperfect section of the "coming together" quilt, I am sure many of you have 2 questions on your mind. Allow me to just get those answers out of the way now... K?

1.) I happen to like pink & brown, yes. HOWEVER, the reasons for each of these have little to do with my taste, and more to do with the likes of others. You see, the apron was a gift for my dear friend... and the wall art is for Genny's bathroom (in the color scheme she chose), and the quilt is a gift for a very special little girl who is too young to like pink & brown, but likely will- one day.

2) Why yes, there are several sections of the quilt sewn with the reverse side showing. This was, and wasn't, intentional. It happened once, accidentally. But I liked it. It added a whimsical sense to it... So I scattered reverse prints a few more times...

Bottom line, I think I'm over complicating this quilt thing. Hopefully today I will be able to get the rest of the squares sewn together and prepare to back it. Any tips?

Oh thats so pretty! You have done an excellent job. I wish I knew how to sew or I would give you some tips. Keep up the GREAT work!

I love the pink and brown. And how kind of you to make me that apron! (Just kidding... trying to convey how much I like it!)

My only quilt tip is to try to put the next one together in strips. It can still look random squares and rectangles. Email me for more.

You are amazing to tackle all these sewing gifts, by the way.

Wow, I can't sew a pillow so I'm awfully impressed. I love the tiles, too. And I love how all of this just goes perfectly with your blog design.

Anna,
yes... my friend called me this morning and said "um, and the justification for your blog design? is that for everyone else too???"
I forgot about that... :)

I don't quilt, so I can't help at all but I can say that is a divine apron and I am with you (and your friends) about pink and brown - deeeeliciious!

Any "messed up" quilt you could make would undoubtedly be way nicer than any quilt I could make, especially given that mine would be non-existent. I've never done the sewing thing.

I also love the pink and brown -- what a wonderful gift that will make!

Good for you! I can barely sew a button on a shirt.

CG~ Ironically, neither can i!

Fraulein~ I don't know... A truly messed up quilt would likely be less impressive than nothing...

Okay, quilts are made with love and that makes them extra speical to me...but pink and brown is very cute.

I love your craftiness. And I tell myself that if it is made with love then it is always perfect, even if I can find every imperfection without even looking at what I made.

made with love...really. It is not just a load of crap...I am telling the truth!

Sadly, I have no tips for you. I haven't a crafty bone in my body.

BUT, I absolutely ADORE that apron. If I had one, and I wish I did, I would never wear it to cook or clean in, I wouldn't want to get it dirty. BUT, I'd have the best time twirling around the house in it!
