10:00 a.m.- Genny and Misty sit down to draw out, and decorate, a huge poster to hold up at the airport when their man gets off the plane.
11:00 a.m.- The girls get in the car, let it warm up and head out to pick up an ice cream cake they pre-order which says "welcome home!"
11:10 a.m.- As they approach an intersection there is suddenly a loud grinding sound coming from the right side of the car. Hazards on, they pull over where Misty discovers that her right tire is mutilated and she is driving on the rim.
11:25 a.m.- embarrassingly admitting to the entire world that she doesn't know how to change a tire, she attempts to phone every one humanly possible. Her biggest sadness, and the very reason for the tears pouring down her face, is that she knows her husband has been beside himself with worry and stress and the last thing she wants is for him to get off of the plane to no one waiting for him.
11:50 a.m.- wonderfully kind family stops and offers incredibly support as their NINE AND ELEVEN year olds tag team changing the tire... (Genny and Misty will BOTH be learning this nifty skill by the weeks end!)
12:25 p.m.- Donut in place, the Wagner girl's are on their way once again, to the airport.
12:40 p.m.- Misty pulled over by police man. Turns out he was very kind and helpful, but the lights in the rearview mirror and the act of being pulled over was enough to bring silent tears back to her eyes.
1:00 p.m.- After driving impossibly slow, (sorry Idahoans in a hurry!) The girl's make it to the airport with about 5 minutes to spare.
1:25 p.m.- After double checking every parking garage at the airport, along with 12 other weary parkers, it is revealed that the Boise airport is officially out of parking. The girls, both sad that they won't be able to greet Chw, as he gets off the plane, with their beautiful sign- beginning making the loop.
1:50 p.m.- After the day she's had, and the major emotional depth of the day anyway, worry sets in when Chw's plane is now 45 minutes late. With no way to contact Chw (obviously) she begins to fear the worst, (I hate that irrational worry) while looping around and around, and around the arrivals area at the airport.
2:15 p.m.- Chw calls. Their flight was late. (no kidding) Misty, who had strongly warned Genny not to mention anything about the car/tire/cop until after he was with them, then falls apart from worry/stress and blurts it all out following the "we can't park, I am so sorry that we won't meet you at the gate... *sob, sob, sob* (insert verbal vomit of day here....)"
2:30 p.m.- while Chw gets his 5 pieces of luggage, Misty parks in the unloading and loading zone to send Genny in to hold down the luggage while Chw begins to bring it out. Airport cop comes up and threatens to call CPS because she is a negligent mother for sending her daughter in to her dad, who is on the other side of the glass... She tells him, in return, the situation. He threatens to arrest her if she does not move her car from the "no parking" zone. Misty points out she is not parking, she is about to be loading... The cop waves his arm at her and says "If you do not get in your car and drive, lady, I will haul your ass off."
Pissed, Misty gets in the car to loop- yet again.
2:40 p.m.- While Misty is looping, Chw is yelled at by said cop, about leaving his luggage (two of which are huge boxes) unattended at the curb while returning for me. (yeah, whose fault is that???) And then... When Misty arrives back at the curb, the cop treats both adult Wagners with great hostility...
4:30 p.m.- After a nice lunch, and finding a tire place to replace the rubber Krispy Kreme- beloved friends come to say hello to Chris, Ice cream cake is devoured by all and the world is insanely perfect once again...
The end...
(And don't forget to enter my February give-away!)

That? Sounds like something that would happen at the Pittsburgh airport. I think the cops are so pissed that they have been assigned to that duty that they decide to take it out on EVERYONE. Ugh.
At least he's home!
What a day! Glad you survived and all is well again! phew!
HOLY COW!
I thought my day wasn't so great. Breaking out in hives to an unknown substance... hopped up on hive-reducing medication and driving home in a blizzard with 500 million people who can't drive in the snow... but you m'dear, win the crappy day award.
Glad it turned out ok in the end and all is right with the world once again. (however, I am still allergic to something, somewhere, somehow ? I think it might be splenda)
Wow...well, the end result was good. He got home safely and you are all together again!
WOWZERS!!!!
so glad you didn't get arrested :)
Sounds like you held it together...I would not have been so nice to the cop!
Thank goodness that day is over! What an emotional roller coaster. Glad you've got hubby back home.
And for what it's worth, I can't change a tire, either. :)
Oh Misty! AHHCK! What a crazy day. yep- there would be tears flowing. Sorry to hear about all that, especially on a day that you dont really need it.
I tagged you on my blog, but from reading what is going on in your life, I think I will understand if you dsont do it! ha!
have a great weekend-
Cute, funny but I felt your anxiety too! Hope all is well. Sending loving thoughts to you and your little family! Love, Esther
What a day~ I breathed a sigh of relief at the end your post so goodness knows how you felt going through it. At least it turned out well!
Wow... I'm glad everyone is home safe and sound!
Ugh! That sounds awful!
And what was up that cop's bum? Couldn't he just be a little bit kind?
Glad that everything settled down again. Ice cream solves even the hardest days
OH MY GOODNESS what a day..
Whew...at least he's home.
What a horrible day! My headache was nothing compared to your trials and tribulations. I am glad your sweetie is home, safe and sound. Have fun learning how to change a tire this weekend!
thanks so much for all of your encouragement and sympathy! it's been fun, to say the least... No tire education as of yet, but do have new tires on my car so I can't complain too much... :) You guys rock!
Wow. What a horrible mess!! I am happy that everyone is safe and sound now though.
Ah, air travel. It's just the best, isn't it? I don't know anyone who has had an incident-free airplane trip in years. How sad is it that all you were trying to do was pick somebody up at the airport, and STILL the airport nazis found a way to turn the whole event into a nightmare? Sorry to hear about the tire too. That is never fun. But it sounds like it worked out OK in the end!
But at least he's home right???! : ) Sounds like a pretty craptacular day for you - hopefully you got all your bad luck out in one day.
Bless your heart! That cop ought to be ashamed of himself for the way he treated both of you!!
ugh-- what a crappy day-- Just think- it only gets better from here... right?
ck
So glad he's home. (No thanks to the police force of your fair city.)
Hi Misty -- I know that you guys are busy with family bonding and renewal :) but I wanted you to know your family in blogland is thinking about you. I almost tagged you for a meme today, but thought I'd better not saddle you with that at this time. Hope you are having a most happy reunion.

WELCOME HOME CHRIS!!!!
